I held a series of practice surveys at small sites in downtown Providence River in one class called ‘Invisible Landscape’. These surveys gave me the opportunity to practice setting up a field survey base map, use weather instruments, and tune my body to observe changes in temperature, light, wind. Then I worked with the data collected in the specific site to create a temporal mapping of my sensory walks to evoke a visceral understanding of the transitions, gradients, and edges experienced along the walk.
Below, I use Processing to showcase the variation of temperature in a half-open site.
