GrowSquares develops proprietary algorithms and machine learning models to deliver personalized, hyper-local plant recommendations through remote survey analysis so our users can garden more confidently than ever.
My Role: Data Visualization Designer.
My job consists mainly of explaining why a customer should choose GrowSquares and why GrowSquares is an affordable, customized approach to gardening compared with other gardening companies. In this website, we specifically take an apartment building in Brooklyn, New York as an example. I made the urban 3D models and analyzed the environmental factors near this apartment building for each square foot to understand which plants are the most suitable ones for each square foot. After this rigorous analysis, I made a series of animations to describe the analysis process, and I also made interactive maps to enable consumers to get access to the analysis results. At the same time, as a parametric designer, I wrote a program in Grasshopper in order to adjust the parameters of GrowSquares plants and plant containers in real time. This allows adaptation to the growth of different plants and connects with 3D printing in order to create customized boxes to meet the needs of the customers.
